About Foot Reflexology

As practised today, reflexology is both a science and an art. Although a highly effective healing system for thousands of years, since the beginning of the twentieth century our understanding and practice has been significantly enriched by the volumes of research and development that have led to the methodologies we use today. Reflexology works as a way of activating our internal healing power, based on the principle that all parts of our body are connected by energy pathways ending in the hands, feet, face, scalp and ears. Reflexology treatment uses pressure on these specific zones to stimulate healing in the corresponding organs, glands and structures releasing areas of tension and helping energy to flow more freely throughout the body. This holistic approach explains why a foot reflexology treatment is much, much more than a foot massage.

What is involved in the treatment?

During the session, the recipient lies down comfortably on the couch with feet and ankles uncovered. I stimulate these areas manually with specific sequences of pressure on points and zones. The pressure applied is not uniform as different points need different degrees of stimulation; but precision is more important than power. I open and close the treatment with relaxation sequences.
